Reflection

Hello, this shall be my last post here! Don't miss me awww :D (Dear Mrs Woo, if you're assessing my blog now, please scroll to the bottom to find my earliest post, thanks!)

Now I shall reflect on the PT.

1. What have you learnt about your eating habits?
I learnt that I tend to eat too much bread because I have bread for my breakfast and recess. I also tend to eat the same food everyday making it very boring as the variety is very little. Now after I know the various foods that can replace bread or the rice I eat almost daily, I can find healthier and more interesting variations. For example, I can replace eating apples and pears everyday with maybe longan or watermelons.

2. Do you consider your diet a healthy one? Why?
It may not be exactly called healthy, but because I'm underweight, I suppose I should eat more than the usual person does, thus this diet is suitable for me. Also, I engage in physically draining activities at least thrice a week thus any fat is burnt off quite quickly. Still, I would try to eat the recommended amounts of food as undesirable food might cause minor/major health problems in the future if not now.

3. Are the suggested nutritional tools useful? How?
They are quite useful, especially the healthy diet pyramid. While the others such as the energy and nutrient composition of food may be boring because it just requires you to fill in the data, the article on the food pyramid was engaging, colourful and easy to read. I was able to find out quickly how much is one serving of a certain type of food and the amounts of that kind of food I needed to eat daily. The form that it is represented allows me to equate the nutritional value of one food to another. For example, 1 small apple (130g) = 1 wedge pineapple (130g) so I can know what food can substitute into my current diet and still give me the energy I need daily.

4. Why is your suggested one-dish meal healthy?
I normally only eat an apple after dinner. An apple is only 1 serving. Today, after reading on the healthy diet pyramid about the number of servings of fruits I have to eat daily, I went to cut more fruits in the kitchen to add to my boring dish of only apples after dinner. Now it has more fruits thus providing more vitamins and nutrients (also the 2 servings you need) and it's also more interesting to eat. Different fruits also provide different vitamins that will benefit you well.
